A Golden Exit

Aaron and Laura were such good sports in posing.

First of all, let me apologize for the long hiatus.  I’m trying to get back into this blogging thing.  I’m just bad about it overall.

Ok, now to business.  I took a class today by Lane Hickenbottom about the tricks of what he’s known for, his gorgeous dramatic sunset portraits that he seems to win many a client over.  During the class many said they have tried to create the same images he did but with no luck.  Thankfully Lane’s a nice enough guy to help out fellow photogs so we can create just as gorgeous photos.  Above is one I created courtesy of Lane’s lighting and camera (thanks to some technical difficulties of my own).  Now that I know what I’m doing expect some more photos of me practicing this fabulous method of portraits.

I also want to give a shout out to Aaron and Laura, who were great models for the 8 photographers who were directing them all at once and flashing lights in their faces.  They were great.  I feel so inspired now.

Can’t Stop Till You Get Enough

Grooms men

Finally able to make a post worth posting.  I went to a wedding in Aberdeen, SD this weekend and shot a few wedding photos while I was there.  This photo is of the groomsmen and the groom doing an awesome split leap if I say so myself.  This was the second take of the shots because his first leap wasn’t high enough to clear the heads of the groomsmen.  Many mosquito bites later I can say I’m proud of this photo.  Congratulations Tamielle and Christian for an amazingly beautiful wedding in South Dakota that made the total of 12 hours driving worth it and then some.

In other news, I may have sold my soul in the world of photography.  I just got a job at Portrait Innovations.  It’s similar to The Picture People in that people can get their portraits taken and pick up their photos the same day minus having to wear a beenie.  It’s also a consistent hourly wage and has potential to rake in some good money.  I can’t complain, it’s still a job in photography and it’s experience.  I start next Tuesday.  Here’s to being a fulltime employee again!
