Fjolla Gashi, 13, was struck by a speeding car while walking to school in Krusha, Kosovo. Krusha, a small town that was most affected by the Kosovo War, doesn’t have the funds to be able to provide public transportation for the school children. Everyday school children risk their safety in order to receive an education. With Islamic traditions, the dead are buried within 24 hours with a mourning process started by the women of the family.
Fidushe Gashi, 37, kisses her daughter, Fjolla the the mourning room of her house. The women of the family mourn over the body before the casket is taken to the cemetary for burial.
